Better Days

Have you ever read the Bible and had a passage speak to you directly about a situation you are facing at that very moment?
That is what happened to the prophet Daniel. He didn’t have the Bible that we have today. In his day the Old Testament was a collection of scrolls. And Daniel was reading from a scroll that contained the writings of the prophet Jeremiah.
And as he was reading through it, Daniel realized that what Jeremiah said was happening in real time—in Daniel’s lifetime. And he experienced a personal revival.
At the time Daniel read Jeremiah the Jewish people were living as captives in Babylon. Jeremiah and other prophets had warned Israel to turn from their idolatry or judgment would come upon them. But the people ignored it. And finally, that judgment came.
As Daniel read Jeremiah, he came to the passage that says, “After seventy years are completed at Babylon, I will visit you and perform My good word toward you, and cause you to return to this place” (Jeremiah 29:10). Next it says, “For I know the plans I have for you”…“plans for your welfare, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope”.
If you find yourself in your own personal Babylon today, this verse applies to you. If life isn’t going the way you hoped. And it does not seem like it will ever improve. I’m certain of this: Better days are ahead for you. Ultimately God will work out whatever you’re going through, for your good and for His glory. The ‘better days’ that I’m certain of are the days of Heaven, when we’ll be in the presence of the Lord.
