Calvary Chapel History
Calvary Chapel is non-denominational Christian church. It began in Costa Mesa, California in 1965 by Pastor Chuck Smith. In the mid 70’s, during a two year period, estimates are that over 8,000 baptisms were performed at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. During that same period, Pastor Chuck Smith and his church were instrumental in bringing 20,000 conversions to the Christian faith. Chuck Smith was known as one of the leading figures in what is called today “The Jesus Movement.”
Half a world away, Calvary Chapel Kaiserslautern began in October 2002. Pastor David Ball started a Bible study with four families. God has abundantly blessed the teaching of His Word as this small Bible study group has grown into a fully functioning church fellowship in the ensuing years.
