Being True to Your Calling - 1 Corinthians 7:17-24

Being True to Your Calling

It doesn’t matter whether we are single or married; God will use us to further His kingdom. He meets us where we are through His grace.

God has different callings for all of us, but He has the same desire, which is to have a personal relationship with us. He is reaching out to us, but are we reaching back? Are we making God a priority in our lives?

1 Corinthians 7:17-24
17 Only let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him, and to which God has called him. This is my rule in all the churches. 18 Was anyone at the time of his call already circumcised? Let him not seek to remove the marks of circumcision. Was anyone at the time of his call uncircumcised? Let him not seek circumcision. 19 For neither circumcision counts for anything nor uncircumcision, but keeping the commandments of God. 20 Each one should remain in the condition in which he was called. 21 Were you a bondservant when called? Do not be concerned about it. (But if you can gain your freedom, avail yourself of the opportunity.) 22 For he who was called in the Lord as a bondservant is a freedman of the Lord. Likewise he who was free when called is a bondservant of Christ. 23 You were bought with a price; do not become bondservants of men. 24 So, brothers, in whatever condition each was called, there let him remain with God.

God meets us where we are. We don’t have to earn or do anything special. We don’t need to try and be like anyone else because God created us all to be unique and different in our own ways. God has a special plan for all of us and will use us in the way He desires. We are called to walk with the Lord right now. Don’t wait for a better opportunity, more time, or when the weather is just right. God is calling us NOW, whether we are married, unmarried, divorced, etc. God wants to use us in our current state. There is no better time than now.

What are we waiting for? What is holding us back from fully committing to God? We always seem so busy in our lives, and we don’t seem to find time for God. If this is true, then God is not the number one priority. He is not getting the dedication that He deserves. How are we to grow spiritually and mature if we aren’t spending time in prayer and in the Word of God?

Therefore, let us all remain in the Lord and dedicate time to spend with Him through prayer and study of His Word. The Holy Spirit will use you and will guide you if you let Him. God calls us to bear witness of Jesus Christ, but how can we mature in our spiritual walk if we aren’t committed? I challenge you to find time in your day and ensure God is the main priority in your life. He uses us in the condition we are in, but don’t we want to better prepare our hearts and minds with a fuller understanding of God?
